There were a couple of bands on Warped Tour that I photographed enough to write entire blogs about them—namely The Wonder Years. Hell, I don’t think I shot anyone else more than twice, so these were my dudes this summer. Of course, spending 12 hours a day doing merch limited my ability to shoot often or edit anything in a timely manner, but here we are today reliving the past.

For some reason, I feel the need to start from the beginning. Probably because I went on a practically-indefinite hiatus from personal blogging and now realize that writing things down is good looking out for future me—but mostly to emphasize how rad these dudes really are. They are good people who play good music, and they couldn’t care less about public perception. Apparently it’s working too, because No Closer To Heaven debuted at #1 on the Billboard Alternative chart and #12 overall. Hell. Yes.

The Wonder Years will always have a special place in my heart. They played an in-store when I worked for Zumiez in 2012 and it was the first event that I planned and executed almost entirely on my own. Everything went well and they were the some of the most humble and down-to-earth band dudes I’d ever met. At the time, I was also in the process of painstakingly booking artists for the Zumiez Couch Tour, and after a conversation with Soupy at the show and some emails back and forth with management the next morning, The Wonder Years were booked for our two Texas stops. It’s crazy how life just falls into place sometimes. I saw them 7 times around the country in 2012 (which now pales in comparison to how many times I heard/watched their set even without shooting this summer).
